The Committee

Anaïs Kadian is a 4th year student at Glendon College where she is completing her honours degree in International Studies with a certificate in law and social thought. Anaïs has been an active member and leader of the Amnesty International Club on campus.  Her academic interests include:  Canadian foreign policy, economic and political development, and international law. She plans to attend law school and pursue a joint degree in common and civil law with a specialization in international law. One of the reason Anaïs chose to study at Glendon was to be able to help organize its unique symposium project so she is very excited to be part of the symposium committee this year.

Kate Bobko is a 4th year student at Glendon College, completing an honours degree in Inernational Studies with a certificate in Refugee and Migration Studies. She is particularly interested in issues concerning environment and environmental security, as well as refugee and minority issues. She is proud to be a part of this project, having attended the Annual Symposium throughout her studies. Upon completion of her Bachelor degree, Kate hopes to continue her academic career by pursuing graduate studies.

Genevieve Light is a 4th year student at Glendon College.  Nourishing a strong passion for discovering new cultures Genevieve did not have to think twice when offered an opportunity to join the symposium.  Currently completing a specialized honours degree in international studies she aspires to bring her own contribution to the leading role Canada occupies on the international diplomatic scene.  With its rich history Egypt has always looked special and mysterious to her.  This symposium will broaden her knowledge and open her not only to Egypt but also to the whole Middle East, which she believes will play a key role in the future of international relations.

Laura Monteith is a 4th year Specialized Honours International Studies student.   Her interest in Egypt stems from the great history and culture of the region and she looks forward to learning more about the country as an important contemporary international actor. Laura previously worked as an intern at Women of the World and hopes her experiences in the not-for-profit sector will be helpful in creating a well-organized symposium that is interesting and informative for people from all walks of life.

Hani El Masry is a 3rd year student in the International Studies program at Glendon College. His academic focus is globalisation and its economic and cultural effects on the developing world. Hani is a dual citizen of Canada and Egypt and is interested in studying Egypt's geopolitical importance. This is his first year as a symposium committee member, however he was a volunteer for Turkey 2007:   An International Crossroads. He is also the president of the Glendon College Student Union.

Rachael Dempsey is a 4th-year student in the International Studies program at Glendon College.   She also has a BA in English Literature from McGill University.  Her current academic interests include civil society and global governance, critical theory, and tranformative education.   This is her first International Symposium and she is excited to be a member of the team.  She hopes her previous volunteer and academic experience will help make this year's symposium a success.

Jenilee Ward is a final year student at Glendon College, completing a combined honours degree in International Studies and Psychology. Her interests include international law with a particular focus on human rights. Jenilee is also a recipient of the International Program diploma from Sciences-Po Paris. This is her first year as a member of the symposium comittee.
